I am a little annoyed therefore this update will be a little sarcastic d/t the lack of critical thinking, wait time for small things, and seeing how attitudes change when they find out you have a little knowledge about medical issues. Per mom today was the wait and capture day. Per mom the doctors said they want to
1. Capture blood, wait for results, and watch trending of the blood count to make sure not bleeding anymore ( levels were 24 this morning and 24 this afternoon so no drop which is awesome )
2. Wait and capture a bowel movement to check to see if blood is in
....dad just had a BM...per mom we have been waiting on this stool for 2 days that is why they started him on miralax...the nurse was going to discard the BM b/c there was no order to check BM for blood..oh no no no Mr Nurse you are going to call the doctor per my request....well he did .the nurse got in touch with the intern..he relayed the message as she was not aware of the stool sample and she would ask the doctor in the morning...unfortunately I went off on the nurse saying this is the most ridiculous thing ever we are talking about smearing poop on a card to check for blood because he has received at least 10 units of blood if not more in 5 days due to bleeding...I am FUMING..the nurse is going to save the stool until they can get a better answer for me...I am really a nice person...I just need you to use your noggin
3. being very cautious about his blood clot from right arm to dialysis catheter (thin line with treatment with blood thinners since recent bleeding ulcer)
4. treating the H Pylori with 3 different antibiotics 3 times a day,
5. Right arm still hurting really bad...he has literally waited all day on a heating pad...my suggestion was why can we not get Tylenol ordered...REALLY...1 hour later 650mg of Tylenol given
6. The nurse did an in & out cath at 330am for urine. I am not a fan of in & out cath d/t risk for infection, but I surely don't want dad to have urine just sitting in his bladder for 48 more hours before his next dialysis treatment because the nurse seems to think he will not make urine. I said the only way we know he is doing better is by the amount of urine he produces which tells us his kidneys are waking up and starting to function, so this is crucial for him. Nurse say we'll we don't have an order to do anything. I said you cannot do a bladder scan???? Oh well yeah we could do that replied the nurse. It only showed about 100ml, but again it does not need to just sit in his bladder. I got him up to the bathroom for the above BM and he captured about 50ml of urine in the urinal....I am trying to take deep breaths. I will be fine. 7. Dad seems to be more alert today. He has sat up twice today. He is still really sleep. The doctor wrote for physical therapy (PT) yesterday, but we will obviously see them when we go back to Stallworth. PT here is no where to be found.
